The Best and Worst Places To Be a Woman

Came across this article and it immediately caught my attention. It rates countries on their gender gap measured by job opportunities, access to health and education, women in political power. etc. The United States  is #23, Yemen is #136 (the last ranking) while Iceland is #1. So lets all pack up and move to Iceland!

  1. Thanks for posting this! I find it very insightful. I am mildly obsessed with things that map the abstract to tangible data. They make abstract concepts easier to grasp. I think it would be interesting if there was a mapping like this of race: “The Best and Worst Places To Be a Person of Color”.

  2. Awesome post, thanks for sharing! I wonder what these Scandinavian countries have that the U.S. doesn’t. A more stable economy? Less diversity? Colder weather? Also, it seems like all of these factors (job opportunities, access to health and education, etc.) relate to one another. Which makes the biggest difference in women’s happiness? And would women’s happiness correlate to the gender gap? Just some more questions to think about.
